Information Architect / Project Management Experience: I strongly believe planning is the vital element to the success of any projects. I have a very extensive background in project management and information architecture development. With good and thorough planning, resource and budget will be well under management. Planning should be a majority of the life cycle of a project launch and it involves Discovery phase, Design stage, and Implementation stage.
Discovery Phase: This stage is the investigation of what exactly the problem you are trying to solve for the client. It involves a very thorough look at every aspect of the business and what the client's final goals are.
Designing Stage: Once you understand the need, recommendations are made and you will design a solution that will deliver the goal. This stage you will draft up deliverables and perform risk assessments for your client.
Implementation Stage:Implementation stage proceeds when you documented all the findings and deliverables and all the information necessary to develop or implement a "road map" for the new application. One this roadmap is signed off and approved, developers will use this to start designing the frontend and backend of the applicaion. The better and the more accurate this roadmap is, the more efficient your development will be and the more likely you will stay on track for your project.
Below are samples from some of my projects. Please click on the hyperlinks to view examples.
Project Plan using Microsoft Project 2000. - A thorough list of all the tasks and resources are very useful for project managers and developers to stay on track. It is a centralized document for everyone in the team to keep on track of the project. A great organizational tool.
Information Architect (Flow Charts) (Visio) - This shows how the entire architect of the application or website needs to be. Using this flowchart, I can estimate the amount of pages and the developers time require to develop. It graphically displays the underlying structure of the website.
Functionality and user interface screens (Visio) - This is the actual screens with all the necessary functionalities that your developers need to build on the backend. These screens only display the functions the pages have and do not necessary use for creative references. Your developers depend on the accuracy of these pages to build all the nexcessary functions of the websites. For examples, the forms and fields needed to be collected on the frontend, database design, the way your website is organized. This is the essential "road map" for the development of the application.
